The Aurality Hub invites the Tufts community to their next gathering on Friday October 17 at 2 pm with special guest, Ravi Krishnaswami.
Ravi Krishnaswami is a PHD candidate in Musicology/ Ethnomusicology at Brown University researching intersections between technology, political economy, and creativity. His dissertation research focuses on Al music generation and its connections to music for media. He is a composer and sound-designer for advertising, television, and games, and is the co-founder of the award-winning production company COPILOT Music + Sound. He plays guitar in The Smiths Tribute NYC and has premiered concert works for sitar, violin and percussion/ live processing.
The Aurality Hub is a series of faculty events - to meet and discuss, research and experiment with all that purports to the aural. The Aurality Hub aims to reposition the media of academic inquiry and disciplinary hierarchies by way of the aural register - sound, music, noise, silence; orality, soundscape; listening, hearing; acoustics, vibrational practices; performance, radio, podcasting, dubbing; spatial sound, Ambisonics, Dolby, machine listening, and more.
