A Conversation with Rita Indiana, 3/12
Laminan Lounge, 1st floor
180 Packard Avenue, Medford

The Department of Romance Studies is thrilled to invite the Tufts community to two extraordinary events featuring the renowned Dominican author, musician, and performance artist Rita Indiana on March 12 in the Olin Center at 7 pm. This event will include a reading from her new novel, Asmodeo.
Rita Indiana is a multifaceted creative force. She is a Global Distinguished Professor and Director of the MFA in Creative Writing in Spanish at New York University (NYU), an award-winning author, and a visionary musician and artist. Her novel La mucama de Omicunlé (Tentacle in English) won the Caribbean Writers Association Literary Prize in 2017, and her latest multimedia show, Tu nombre verdadero (2023), has garnered widespread acclaim. Her 2020 album Mandinga Times, described by The New Yorker as a “frenetic, danceable soundtrack for this miserable moment,” feels eerily relevant today.
