Love in the Moonlight: A Discussion on Sufism and Sexuality with Madhavi Menon, 10/15
48 Professors Row

The Department of English and CHAT invite the Tufts community to a special conversation with Madhavi Menon of Ashoka University.
What might be the queer resonances between Sufism and Shakespeare? Madhavi Menon would offer a response this question, among many others, in this discussion on her forthcoming book Love In The Moonlight: Sufism, Sexuality, Shakespeare which brings together distinct areas of study—Sufi poetry, gender and sexuality, early modern/Renaissance studies, South Asian studies—with a distinctly literary and theoretical motivation. Graduate students in the humanities who are working on sexuality and who wish to connect research in “marginal” or “other” areas with canonical literatures are especially welcome to attend. This would also be of interest to faculty working in queer theory and on scholarship that crosses borders of geography and area.
All are welcome. For questions, contact humanities@tufts.edu.
