The Philip Levine Poetry Project Presents: Martín Espada, 11/18
51 Winthrop St, Medford, MA
Martín Espada -- winner of the 2021 National Book Award — is coming to campus read and converse at Tufts. His writing intersects with his former work as an immigration lawyer, and his heritage as a member of the Puerto Rican diaspora. He has been largely influential on poets and others who write in terms of reclaiming history and the documentary impulse, and he has dedicated his work to giving voice to the powerless through moving, vivid poetry. Martín Espada has published more than twenty books as a poet, editor, essayist, and translator. His new book of poems, Jailbreak of Sparrows, is available now.
This event is co-sponsored by the department of English. For details, please contact sara.akant@tufts.edu.
