The English Department and Tufts Chaplaincy are delighted to announce that the legendary Ustad Fareed Ayaz and Abu Mohammad will be performing qawwali at Tufts on November 6.

Qawwali is a form of Sufi devotional voice and instrumental performance, originating in South Asia. Each performance is unique as these classically trained vocalists interweave verse-chorus sequences that are rich in poetic and spiritual symbolism in Urdu, Farsi, Hindi, Poorvi, Arabic, and Punjabi. Qawwali is, at its heart, a pluralistic art form that highlights multifaith and multicultural aspirations for peace.

Free and open to the public. Registration is highly encouraged.
