University Ecologies is excited to welcome Terike Haapoja to campus for a special event entitled "Art and Multispecies Politics."

Terike Haapoja is an interdisciplinary visual artist, writer and researcher. Haapoja’s work explores multispecies coexistence through the frameworks of biopolitics, posthumanism and critical animal studies, in dialogue with intersectional feminist and anti-colonial discourses. Otherness and othering, ethical relationality, and repairing connections are recurring themes in Haapoja’s work. Projects by Gustafsson&Haapoja, a collaboration with writer Laura Gustafsson, propose utopian alternatives for anthropocentric institutions such as museums. The work of Terike Haapoja and Gustafsson&Haapoja have been exhibited widely in solo and group shows internationally, recent exhibitions including Medina Triennial, Borås Biennale, Bucharest Biennale, Taipei Biennale, Venice Biennale, Momentum Biennale, Helsinki Biennale, New Tretyakov Gallery Moscow, Kalmar Art Museum, CCCB Barcelona, Kindl Berlin, Chronus Art Center Shanghai, Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art Helsinki, ZKM Germany, ISCP New York.
