May 1, 2023 The 2023-2024 CHAT Fellows have been selected. Faculty Fellows are Daanika Gordon (Sociology, RCD); Simon Han (English); and Diego Luis (History, RCD). Postdoctoral Fellows are Nicholas Andersen (continuing fellow, Brown) and Chance Bonar (Harvard). Graduate Dissertation Fellows are Mia Levenson (TDPS) and Rebekah Waalkes (English).

April 12, 2023 Craig Wilder, Barton L. Weller Professor of History at MIT, spoke about the history of higher education and slavery. This was the inaugural event for the new Slavery, Colonialism, and Their Legacies at Tufts Project which is sponsored by CHAT, CSRD, and the Office of the Provost. October 14, 2022Lorgia García Peña, CHAT Faculty Fellow, has received the Angela Y. Davis Prize for outstanding public scholarship from the American Studies Association. Read more about the award here.

June 30, 2022 – The Center for the Humanities at Tufts has named Heather D. Curtis the next Director of CHAT. Professor Curtis is the Warren S. Woodbridge Professor in the Department of Religion, and was previously Interim Chair of the Department of Studies in Race, Colonialism, and Diaspora.

June 30, 2022 – We are pleased to welcome seven new faculty fellows, two dissertation fellows, three postdoctoral fellows, and three visiting scholars and affiliates to CHAT for the upcoming 2022-2023 academic year. This is a dynamic group and we look forward to having a full house at 48 Professors Row.
