The Aurality Hub is excited to host Chenjerai Kumanyika on November 21. The Tufts Community is welcome to join this special event.

Chenjerai Kumanyika is an assistant professor at New York University's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. His expertise lies in using narrative non-fiction audio journalism to critique the ideology of American historical myths about issues such as race, the Civil War, and policing. His podcast, "Empire City," explores the untold origin story of the NYPD. He is also the co-creator of the Peabody Award-winning podcast "Uncivil." His scholarship and media work have been widely published, spanning academic journals and major platforms such as The Intercept, NPR, VICE, and This American Life.

This event is hosted by The Auality Hub. The Aurality Hub is a series of faculty events - to meet and discuss, research and experiment with all that purports to the aural. The Aurality Hub aims to reposition the media of academic inquiry and disciplinary hierarchies by way of the aural register - sound, music, noise, silence; orality, soundscape; listening, hearing; acoustics, vibrational practices; performance, radio, podcasting, dubbing; spatial sound, Ambisonics, Dolby, machine listening, and more.
