CHAT Fellow Seminar with Simon Han and Kate Conlon, 11/1
48 Professors Row
Medford MA 02155
CHAT invites you to come visit us on Wednesday, November 1 at noon for a special presentation by CHAT Fellow, Simon Han, and special guest Kate Conlon. All are welcome.
In Mandarin, the word zhenji (真跡) translates literally to the “authentic trace.” Byung-Chul Han describes this trace in art as that which marks not a singular identity or act of creation, but “constant change” and an “unending process.” This talk, comprised of a fiction reading and artist presentation, considers questions of originality and value, emptiness and essence, beginnings and ends. How might replication provoke new meanings in the process of writing and art-making, and how might these forms interrogate the act of replication as subject matter?
All are welcome to attend. A light lunch will be served. For questions, email humanities@tufts.edu.
