Kento Morie is a visiting scholar from Kyoto University, Japan, currently at Tufts University as a Fulbright Scholar. He is working on his PhD dissertation in American History. His research project, titled "Philanthropic Internationalism in the Making: Practice and Knowledge on the International," explores how early 20th-century international philanthropies—such as those led by Carnegie and Rockefeller—emerged, consolidated, and reshaped their vision of internationalism through their intertwined practices and knowledge. His current work also includes a focus on "Negotiating International Expertise: U.S. Educational Programs for Emerging Asian Nation Diplomats," examining how diplomats from newly independent Asian states experienced these programs as part of the socializing process into international society.
